Tome Time Reading and Knitting Episode 13: Overcoming Obstacles

Welcome! Please join us in the Tome Time Reading and Knitting Ravelry group.  Book swap partners have been posted and magic linked in Ravelry. Knitting content starts at 13:42.

Books: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling, The Hypnotist’s Love Story and The Last Anniversary by Liann Moriarty, Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce, The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan

Finished Objects: Zinone by Andi Satterlund out of Quince and Co. Sparrow in Fundi color for Kay of the Bede Sisters Podcast’s Grow-along.  Hollyburn skirt from Sewaholic pattern in a Robert Kaufman cotton lawn for the Outfit Along 2016 hosted by Lauren of Lladybird and Andi Satterlund of Untangling Knots. Marooned socks by Hunter Hammersen in Vice Yarn in Geraldo colorway.

WIPS: R2D2 plain vanilla socks for Dogster out of Must Stash Yarns Star Wars: The Droids in the OCD2 colorway. Cordia Tank by Kerri Blumer out of Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere in the Bermuda Teal color for Samantha of The Yarn Reader podcast and blog’s Queue -along. Surprise Stripes socks by Anna Johanna out of my sock scraps.

Jennie from Owl About Yarn suggested the Hitchhiker or Miss Winkle shawl patterns by Martina Behm or the Quay shawl by Sara Millis for my handspun yarn out of her organic alpaca and Polwarth braid. I am leaning toward the Quay shawl.

Spinning: It is Tour de Fleece time and I am spinning some Blue Faced Leicester, bamboo, and nylon from Fat Cat Knits in the Peacock colorway for Team Corner of Knit and Tea, hosted by Laura.  I am hoping to get enough two-ply yarn for shorty socks.

I bought stuff:  Sweet Sparrow Yarns Nuthatch fingering base in the Pure Reason color.  I was planning on socks, but it is too beautiful. It must be a shawl.

Podcast I listen to:  Craft Lit, Dear Hank and John, Down Cellar Studios, Yarns at Yin Hoo, Bede Sisters, Knit Read Pray, 2 Knit Lit Chicks, A Playful Day, Caithness Craft Collective, Knitmore Girls, Twin Set Designs, Knitting Butterflies, plus a few more.

Sewing: 1940’s Empire Waist pants from Decades of Style Patterns.  I love these pants and I hope to make more, with slight pattern alterations.

Training:  Two weeks until sprint distance triathlon.  I talk about tapering or reducing the volume of training in the days leading up to a race so that you are rested and ready.

Thanks for watching!
