Fire Drake Shawl by Erica Jackofsky

Louise, the lovely host of the Caithness Craft Collective podcast, is hosting a knit along of any pattern in 100 grams of any fingering weight yarn. This beautiful Cascade handpaints yarn was in my swap package from Cibola. The yarn was a perfect match for the pattern. I can assure you that it holds up to frogging and reknitting, as this pattern and I did not get along. I kept having trouble with the lace portion, despite using stitch markers, and having lots of lace knitting experience. I prefer to read a chart when knitting lace, but the chart in the pattern was too small to see, so I used the written directions instead. That may have been where I went wrong, but it is finished now and will look good with my winter clothes. By then I will have forgotten my troubles with the pattern and will just enjoy wearing my cozy shawl.

  1. It’s gorgeous. I’ve not attempted lace work yet but I’d really like to have a go. I don’t always like shawls but this one I love. A lovely contemporary yarn. I would definitely wear this one.
